🎥 Announcing Season 2 of the Virtual Worlds Museum™ Spotlight Series: VR & Apps Exhibit

Following the success of Season 1 of our Spotlight Video Series, recognized by the AUREA Award (Europa-Park) and the New Media Film Festival (Hollywood), the Virtual Worlds Museum™ is proud to announce pre-production of Season 2, focused on our VR & Apps Exhibit.

Season 2 will spotlight immersive platforms beyond WebXR, showcasing the rich diversity of virtual experiences across popular VR and App-based virtual environments: Horizon Worlds, Roblox, Second Life, Rec Room, Resonite, Engage XR, VRChat, and Viverse.
We are now looking for recommendations of standout worlds and experiences from these platforms -- find out how you can help at the end of the post!

What’s Spotlight Again?
Each season corresponds to an Exhibit in our mapping. Each episode features interviews with virtual world founders, designers, and world builders. It’s our way of preserving the digital culture of virtual worlds and generating our own video artifacts. Season 1 YouTube Video Here.

🎬 Season 1 Recap: WebXR Exhibit

In Season 1, we explored cutting-edge WebXR platforms and met with creators who are shaping the future of immersive web-based worlds. The series featured SEHU and In Kenzo interacting with interviewees of the following worlds:

  • Arrival.Space
    This first episode focuses on Arrival.Space (a fully web-based and interoperable 3D platform) and features Lisa Maria Egger: Co-Founder & COO and world builder Lilyotron: Lily Snyder.
  • Nowhere
    In this second episode, SEHU and In Kenzo interviewed special guests Maxx Berkowitz, Co-Founder and Head of Product & Design at Nowhere along with Sonny Cirasuolo, Software Engineer at Nowhere. As they share insights into creating intuitive and wonder-filled digital experiences we discover how AI-powered skyboxes, customizable virtual spaces, and more are shaping the future of social interaction online.
  • Captic / VRLand
    In this third episode of the Virtual Worlds Museum Spotlight, hosts SEHU and In Kenzo dive into the captivating world of Captic, a Vienna-based company offering a white-label metaverse platform. Featuring an interview with Ricard Gras, co-founder of Captic, and Ben Erwin, creator of The Polys WebXR Awards and Metaverse Standards Forum board member, as they explore the VR Land virtual world and the powerful web-native engine that powers it as well as the future of interoperability in the metaverse.
  • FrameVR
    In this fourth episode of the Virtual Worlds Museum™ Spotlight, hosts SEHU and In Kenzo dive into the captivating world of Frame VR, a Vienna-based company offering a white-label metaverse platform. Featuring an interview with Gabe Baker VP of Frame VR, and Cause of Cause&Christi.
  • Spatial
    In this fifth episode of the Virtual Worlds Museum™ Spotlight, hosts SEHU and In Kenzo dive into the captivating world of Spatial.io.Featuring an interview with Jake of Steinerman Formally of Spatial.io (now at Meta), and Lisbet of "My African Dream".
