VRChat launched in 2014 as a social VR platform, providing users with customizable avatars and user-created worlds. Initially designed for Oculus Rift, it quickly grew into one of the most popular VR social platforms, expanding to other headsets and even desktop use, emphasizing user-driven content. VRChat was created by Graham Gaylor and Jesse Joudrey and operated by VRChat, Inc.

VRChat allows users to create and explore vast custom-built worlds, use and customize avatars, and engage in real-time social interaction. Its core features include multiplayer games, 3d spatialized audio, community events, full-body tracking for realistic movement, voice chat, and the ability to build worlds using Unity.
