A South Korean world with avatars and social networking areas called “minihompy”.
CyWorld became a cultural phenomenon in South Korea, introducing the idea of “mini‑homes” and avatar‑based social networking long before Facebook or MySpace. It normalized microtransactions for avatar items and digital décor, influencing global virtual‑goods economies. Its aesthetic and social mechanics inspired later platforms like Habbo, ZEPETO, and LINE Play. CyWorld proved that virtual identity could be a mainstream social currency.
