YoVille was a social game that launched in 2008 and was played via app on Facebook or MySpace. Users hung out with friends in "YoVille" and were able to create a character, decorate their house, host a party, earn virtual cash, and chat with other players.
YoVille (later YoWorld) became one of the most influential Facebook‑era virtual worlds, blending home decoration, avatar fashion, and social play. It helped define the “social‑network virtual world” model that dominated the late 2000s. The platform’s strong player‑driven economy influenced later avatar‑centric mobile games. Its survival through community buyout highlighted the power of player loyalty in sustaining virtual worlds.
